Shared HR (Human Resources) exists to provide the smaller business with the benefits of a professional HR team in the most cost effective way. Shared HR is primarily a membership based shared resource, each member company paying a subscription for the services based upon the number of people employed.
Why do companies need HR?
It is a sad fact that the companies who lose more often at tribunals are smaller businesses. This is probably because the HR role is carried out as a part of another managers role and as a result some of the procedures are not as tight as they could be. For example disciplinary hearings are not properly recorded or steps are missed. 38% of businesses are unsure that they have contracts of employment many of them believing that a letter of appointment is sufficient.
